Hazel Ruth Vincent died just before dawn on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at her home in Taylor, Arizona from complications of cancer with family at her side. She was 88 years old. Hazel was born on March 25, 1921 to the late Warren, Sr. and Ida (Hassa) Ryckman in Westfield, Emmon County, North Dakota, where she received her education. She has lived the past 4 years in Arizona to be near her daughter. Hazel appreciated the beauty of "old" things and had an extensive collection of antiques. She was able to make a successful career out of her hobby. While living in Elma, Washington she became a friendly and familiar face to her community. She owned and operated the Oak Tree Antiques for many years. She also owned McCleary Hardware Store in McCleary, Washington for a number of years. Hazel thoroughly enjoyed taking roadtrips throught the United States. During her adventures on the road, she never passed by a flea market without stopping. She loved flea markets and was able to sell many of her own antiques at them. One of her favorite places to travel to, and sell her antiques, was Yuma, Arizona, where she made many dear friends. Hazel looked for the joy that was to be found throughout her long life. She enjoyed a good game of BINGO and appreciated the peace and quiet of a fishing trip. She also enjoyed playing cards and growing her flowers in her garden. She also was quite skilled with embroidery work and many of her works are now gracing the homes of her family and friends. She was a member of the Ladies' Auxilliary of the VFW, Shelton, Washington Post #1694. This sweet, fun-loving and gentle woman will truly be missed by all who called her mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. Hazel is survived by her daughters: Ruth Pierce of McCleary, Washington, Lorraine (Lonnie) Faubion of Taylor, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Myrtle Williams of Elma, Washington, Evelyn Tennant of Sturgis, South Dakota and Mildred Reierson of Rosebud, Montana.
