Evelyn Darlene Ullrich

October 18, 1930 — January 27, 2009

Evelyn Darlene Ullrich died in the early afternoon hours of Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Webb's Adult Care Home in Snowflake from Alzheimer's Disease. She was 78 years. Darlene, as she was known by those that knew her, was born on October 18, 1930 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Russell Theron and Leona M. (Cochran) Moore. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Shumard and most recently widowed by her 2nd husband, Howard Ullrich in 2005. Darlene was a homemaker throughout her life and was ever willing to help her children through the struggles of their lives. She was a kind and quiet woman and enjoyed visiting with dear friends. Darlene enjoyed spending time with those she loved. She truly loved her pets and enjoyed seeing them until the end. She was a devoted sister as well and was well cared for, in her recent years, by her older sister. Darlene is survived by: a son, Larry Shumard of the Phoenix area; daughter, Elizabeth Hoffman of Mesa, Arizona; 2 sisters: Dorothy L. Montell (who was her caregiver) of Show Low, Arizona, Patsy Jean Cochran (Roy) of Hayden, Idaho; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her son, whom she was very close to, Roy Dale Shumard. Private family services will be held at a later date at her family plots at the Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois. Darlene will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Our heart felt "thanks" goes out to her sister, Dorothy, who went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to her care.
