Jocie May Tenney

Jocie May Tenney, age 89, passed away November 4, 2007 at her home in Taylor, surrounded by her family. She was born April 13, 1918, in Taylor Arizona, to the late Joseph Thomas and Florence May (Hancock) Brimhall. She was a graduate of Snowflake High School in 1937. Following her graduation she attended one year at the old Gila Academy (Eastern Arizona College). Jocie married Reed LaGrand Tenney June 22, 1938 in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jocie helped compile two books about Taylor's history and another book on Snowflake's history. She served as the Snowflake Stake Relief Society President for many years. She belonged to the Liberty Belles, a well known singing group. Over the years Jocie made many wedding dresses (47 plus), she also crocheted, knitted and tatted. She even made lace. She was a member of the Silver Creek Spinners. She was a perfect example of the virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31. Jocie loved music and supported it through her community, church and family. She will be missed by her family, friends and community. Jocie is survived by four daughters, Linda (Corwin) Ellsworth of Mesa, Lorna (Lavell) Owens of Show Low, Myriel (Myrlon) Tenney of Woodruff and Floramae (Dr. D. Eric) Tutt of Mesa; four sons, Tom (Catherine) Tenney of West Jordan, Utah, Reginald (Yevet) Tenney of Taylor, Mack (Kanani) Tenney of Taylor and Ladd (Judie) Tenney of Snowflake; 66 grandchildren, 117 (and counting) great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Twila Dennee of Taylor, LaRene Tuley of Lehi, Utah and Winona Gordon of Cedar Hills, Utah and 3 brothers, Ted Brimhall of Snowflake, Larry Brimhall of Taylor and Darrell Brimhall of Snowflake. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 10, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. at the Taylor Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation from 8:30-9:45 A.M. at the church and from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday November 9th at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery.
