Henry Eldon Sutter

November 4, 1922 — April 17, 2008

HENRY ELDON SUTTER went to be with the Lord on April 17th 2008, at the age of 85. He was at his home in Lakeside Arizona, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Henry was born November 4, 1922 in Phoenix Arizona, the son of Elmer and Anna Sutter. He spent a lifetime as an Arizonan, except from 1964-1972 he followed his dream to Ft. Sumner New Mexico. Henry married Kathrine Miller on May 10, 1949. Together they created a family of four children, and worked together throughout nearly 59-years of marriage as ranchers, farmers, contractors, and developers. Henry enjoyed many things throughout his life such as family events, fishing, hunting, jeeping, boating, square dancing and traveling. But his greatest joy was in the things he created and worked to achieve in his professional life. He lived by the motto "A Full Days Work, for a Full Days Pay." Some of his many successes were: constructing military installations throughout AZ during the war, creating a cotton farm from the middle of the dessert in Scottsdale, building the airport and all of the infrastructure in Carefree, developing the first "legal" subdivision in Navajo Co, drilling wells and creating Pineview Water Co in Show Low, raising cattle & alfalfa in Ft. Sumner, creating the Air Stream Park at Show Low Lake, or Waltner's RV in Show Low, as well as many others. He spent his later years traveling, gardening tending his horses, as well as attending events with family and friends. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Anna Sutter, his brother Hans, sisters Viola and Ellen. He is survived by his wife Kathrine Sutter of Show Low AZ, his children, Steve & Barbara Sutter of Pinetop AZ, Kathy Knight of Tempe/Lakeside AZ, Vicky & Wayne Richardson of Clovis NM, and Ernie & Paula Sutter of Lakeside AZ; his 10 grandchildren: Pamela Sutter, Kenny Knight, Sheila Sutter, Kallie Knight, Kraig Knight, Dana Howell, Jennifer Sutter, Mandy Sutter-O'Dell, Shawn Richardson, Taren Sutter-Flagg, and their spouses Lori Knight, Matthew Howell, Aaron O'Dell, Gabriel Flagg; and 12 Great Grandchildren: Zach, Haley, Destiny, Josh, Kamrin, Divinity, Kiley, Kyle, Ryon, Infinity, Emma and Connor. Visiting Hours were Sunday April 20, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Owens Mortuary, Show Low AZ, Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday April 21, 2008 at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Show Low with a visitation 1 hour prior.
