Karen Sue Steinhour died late Sunday night, August 30, 2009 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona following a sudden illness. She was 54 years old. Karen was born on March 22, 1955 in Benson, Arizona to Clyde Roger and Lenora McCray (Baird) Sherman. She was a 1973 graduate of Snowflake High School. When she was 18 years old she married her former husband, Larry Woodside, and together they had 3 children. Karen later married Doug Mel Steinhour on November 25, 1989 in Victorville, California, at which time she completed her new large family. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Karen was always in the service of her fellow man and forever in the service of her God. She was an active member of the Taylor 9th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various leadership positions, including that of Relief Society President, over the years. Karen enjoyed the beauty of the world and she especially enjoyed flowers of all types. Most recently she was the owner and operator, with her husband, of Good Earth Vitamin and Herb in Snowflake, Arizona. Karen was a loving wife, beloved mother, dear daughter, super sister, fun grandma and a great friend to those who loved her most. She is survived by: her husband, Douglas M. Steinhour of Taylor, AZ; parents: Clyde and McCray Sherman of Taylor, AZ; children: Matthew Steinhour (Natalie) of St. Augustine, FL, Marcus Steinhour (Katie) of Jacksonville, FL, Amber Steinhour of Jacksonville, Fl, Nadette Alfonso (Juan) of Jacksonville, FL, Eric Neal Steinhour (Devon) of Jacksonville, FL, Justin Woodside (Kiri) of Taylor, AZ, Marcella Steinhour of Albany, NY, Jennifer Steinhour of Taylor, Arizona; her siblings: Rene Peters (Chuck) of Taylor, AZ, Beverly Adcox (Dan) of Taylor, AZ, Darrell Sherman (Jane) of Mesa, AZ, Charlene Sherman of Jefferson City, MO; and 25 grandchildren. Karen was preceded in death by 1 son, Bert A. Woodside on December 28, 2005. A Public Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Heritage Chapel, 84 E. 19th South in Snowflake, Arizona. The Funeral Service will begin 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Taylor Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 309 W. Willow Lane in Taylor where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. Bishop David R. Lewis will be officiating and the concluding service and interment will follow at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor, Arizona.
