Nevert Dale Scorse

Nevert Dale Scorse died during the quiet morning hours of Sunday, November 23, 2008 at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside, Arizona following a lengthy illness. She was 93 years old. Nevert was born on August 24, 1915 in San Saba, Texas to the late Joe Malone and Duria (Roberts) Roberds. In the early 1940s, she married Gilbert Henry Scorse in Clovis, New Mexico and, prior to his death in January of 2001, the couple spent nearly 58 wonderful years, full of adventure, together. Nevert and Gilbert owned and operated the Green Lantern Cafe on Old Route 66 in Holbrook for many years. In fact, Gilbert's family has been in business in the Holbrook area since the 1880's. Nevert was well known in the Holbrook community and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Nevert is survived by 3 children: Gilbert Scorse, Jr. (Sue Norgaard) of Winslow, Arizona, Maryann Coulter (Richard) of Holbrook, Arizona, Jim Scorse of Flagstaff, Arizona; 4 grandchildren: Deborah Cravens (Jack), Cassandra Scorse, Yvonne Scorse, Yvette Scorse; 4 great-grandchildren: Jarrad Cravens, Danna Rae Cravens, Skye Scorse, Star Scorse; 3 sisters: Ona Collum (Jack) of Burnet, Texas, Dona Mullins of San Saba, Texas and Alvis Davis of Burnet, Texas. She will also be dearly missed by her nephew, William Newman (Shannon) of Holbrook, Arizona and a cousin Harry Newman of Overgaard, Arizona. Along with her parents and husband, Nevert was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Henry Scorse. A public memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Holbrook Chalcedony Masonic Lodge #6, 252-1/2 Navajo Boulevard in Holbrook. The private inurnment will be at the Holbrook Cemetery at a later date.
