Melva "Lili" Sanchez

Melva "Lili" Sanchez, 53 of Show Low, passed away September 13, 2006. She was born December 24, 1952 to Daniel Vasquez-Vasquez and Melva Ayala. Lili moved to Show Low 13 years ago and was a personal caregiver to Helen Purcell for several years until Helen's death. She was most recently serving as Relief Society President for the Spanish-speaking branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Pinetop-Lakeside Stake. She also served as the Relief Society President, in the Tolleson Spanish-speaking branch of The Church. She was service oriented throughout her life and enjoyed helping others. She will be remembered for her gracious hospitality. Her sister Rose will miss fondly calling her "Buck" Lili is survived by 1 daughter, Danielle Sanchez of Show Low, 1 son Alfonso Sanchez (Suzie) of Phoenix; 2 sisters, Rose Sanchez (Arnoldo) of Show Low and Rosa Isela (Manuel) of El Paso, TX; 2 foster brothers, David Becerra of CA, and Sam Becerra of Phoenix; 1 grandson, Alonzo Sanchez of Phoenix; 2 nieces Jessica and Julia Sanchez of Show Low and 2 nephews, Antonio (Ashley) Sanchez of Phoenix, and Arnold Sanchez of Show Low. She is preceded in death by 2 children, one also named Danielle and a foster brother, Richard Becerra. Visitation will be Sunday, September 17, 2006 from 6-8 pm at Owens Mortuary, with funeral services on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Downtown Show Low Chapel. Interment will be at the Vernon Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
