Ivan Lamar Rhoton, 79 of Show Low, passed away September 18, 2006. He was born to H.I. and Minnie K. Rhoton in Snowflake. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served during WWII on the U.S.S. WASP. Upon returning home, he finished his High School education in Casa Grande. He owned a successful radio and television business until 1960. He then went into the insurance business and found great success there. Ivan was a pilot and enjoyed flying his airplane. He was an excellent farmer and had two farms, one in Buckeye and one in Show Low. He grew delicious cantaloupe and watermelon and his orchards harbored few worms. He grew tomatoes from seed and many friends and neighbors enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Hunting, fishing, and family camping were a joy to him. Ivan is survived by his wife, Earlene; daughters Sue Rhoton, Linda (Joe) Peterson, and Karen (Dell) Killian; sons David, Norman (Chris), Steve (Lori) and Tim; stepsons Keith (Gayla) Wahl and Kevin Wahl; brothers Vern (Linda) Rhoton, Gale (Jeanette) Rhoton, and Lynn Rhoton; a sister Ella (Bill) Sadler, and brothers-in-law Ray Swecker and Marvin (Rosmarie) Jarvis. He also leaves behind very special grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, September 22, 2006 from 5-8 pm at Owens Mortuary, Show Low. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment will be at the Show Low Cemetery.
