Roxie West Owens, who would have turned 89 years of age on November 5th, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at her home in Show Low, Arizona, surrounded by all of her children. Roxie was born in Lakeside to Karl B. and Irma Hansen West. She married A. Orr Owens on November 12, 1936, in the Mesa Arizona Temple and lived most of her life in Show Low. In her early years she and Orr owned and operated the Show Low Oil Company and Shamrock Café. It was there she began baking her famous pies. She and Orr lived in Phoenix from 1957 to 1971. During that time she sold real estate and insurance. After returning to Show Low she continued teaching piano and through the years has had the privilege of teaching hundreds of piano students. As a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in numerous positions, always going the extra mile. She will always be remembered for her musical talents. Roxie is survived by 6 children, O. Lavell (Lorna), Show Low, Earl J. (RaQuelle "Kelly"), Lakeside, Lanny D. (Margie), Mesa, Rhonda (Doyle) Jones, Fountain Green, Utah, Collins W. (Linda), Mesa, and Jeannette (Eben) Lewis, Show Low; 43 grandchildren, 123 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Geraldine Peterson, Mildred Packard and Wanda Palmer all of Mesa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, A. Orr Owens, an infant son, Richard Dean Owens, and one grandson, Bruce P. Owens. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, October 20th in the Show Low Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Monday at the Owens Livingston Mortuary in Show Low and Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 10:40 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Show Low Cemetery.
