Harold Max Mortimore

Harold Max Mortimore died just after midnight on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside following complications of a stroke. He was 69. Harold, affectionately known as "Mort" by his many friends and family, was born on November 9, 1938 in Hamburg, Iowa to the late Cecil Evan and Pearl Rose (Ward) Mortimore. He moved to Arizona from his native Iowa in 1970 and worked as a superintendent in the construction industry and was a member of the Carpenters Union. Mort also was a veteran of The U.S. Army serving as a gunman from 1955 to 1961 and was decorated with the "Good Conduct Medal" for his honorable service. Mort is survived by: his wife Sharon Kay (Joslin) Mortimore of Goodwater, Arizona; children: Gerald Evan Casey of Iowa, Dennis Max Casey (Andrea) of Iowa, Lisa Kay (Kenny) Turner of Iowa, Christina Marie Mortimore of Missouri, Rick Villagomez (Denise) of Mesa, Arizona, Sandy Villagomez of Folsom, California, Joyce Villagomez of Phoenix, Arizona, Tina Perez of Phoenix, Arizona; 1 sister, Lois M. Finley of Oregon; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Ray Mortimore and Dale Mortimore. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Owens Mortuary, 409 First Avenue in Holbrook, Arizona. The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Holbrook Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where additional viewing will begin 1 hour prior. The interment will follow at the Holbrook Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
