Veronica was born in 1967 to Hilario (Sonny) Serna and Elvira Gonzales Serna. She passed away on October 09, 2009 in Flagstaff, Arizona with her family by her side. Veronica was blessed to have two wonderful children; Nathaniel Medina of Holbrook and Nicole Medina (Paul Saiz Jr.) and two very special grandchildren Victor Saiz and Augustine Saiz all from Holbrook. She also had two brothers Thomas (Frances) Serna, Michael (Margie) Serna; sisters, Lily Spencer, Roberta "Isabel" (Eduardo Lopez), Debra Serna; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Veronica enjoyed her family, friends, reading, camping, fishing and all activities dealing with young lives. She worked as a teacher for the Head Start Program for years and she enjoyed her life as a teacher of very young minds. When she would encounter the children in their later lives and they recognized her as "Teacher Veronica" this gave her a great sense of pleasure. She often stated that as an educator it didn't end in the classroom. Veronica remembered many if not all her students. The love of educating extended every aspect of family and life. She will be missed, but having the opportunity to have her in our lives was the best gift ever. Veronica is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bertha Serna; maternal grandparents, Julian and Flora Gonzales; paternal grandparents, Hilario "Iro" Serna and Clorinda Baca Serna. To my sister, I know that our dear Lord has called you home. Thanks for the love and friendship you have given us. Memorial services will be held 10 AM Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Holbrook with the Inurnment to follow at the Holbrook Cemetery.
