Barbara Jean Meacham

Barbara Jean Meacham died peacefully Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside, Arizona at the age of 80. She was born on February 13, 1928 in Winthrop, Iowa to the late Howard Hiney and Mary Eva (Hines) Michael. Barbara had a great love for flowers and the sweet scents they had and in her earlier years she enjoyed working in the garden. She loved animals especially dogs and cats. She worked, for many years, as a pantry worker in a large hotel before her retirement. In 1996, Barbara moved to Arizona from Missouri. The past several months, she was resident at Bannon Springs Ranch in Vernon. Barbara Jean is survived by her 4 children: Gloria Newkirk of Mesa, Arizona, Greg Meacham (Rosetta) of Gladstone, Virginia, Cathy Scott (Les) of Lakeside, Arizona, Kevin Meacham (Tess) of West Des Moines, Iowa; 1 sister, Beverly Calvert (Ron); 2 brothers: Bob Michael, Gary Michael all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Tina Cheney, Tammy Skinner, Christian Meacham, Abigail Meacham, Garth Meacham, Alexis Meacham; 3 great-grandchildren: Parker Cheney, Sidney Cheney and Faith Skinner. Private family services will be held this coming spring when the fresh scent of wildflowers and tulips are in the air.
