Lewis "Mac" Raymond McDougal was born on June 25, 1922 to Anver Larra (McColly) and Charles Alonzo McDougal in Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Lewis returned to Kansas City, MO where he drove a truck for Cook Paint and Varnish. In 1957, he and his family moved to Holbrook where he worked as the local agent for Navajo and ICX freight lines. Eventually he went to work for the City of Holbrook where he served as Public Works Director until his retirement in 1984. Lewis was a member of Chalcedony Lodge #6 F&AM of Holbrook where he served as Worshipful Master twice and was voted Mason of the year in 1995. Mac also belonged to the Elks Lodge and American Legion. Mac is survived by his longtime partner Margo Bessent; his children, DeeAnne Santos of Tustin, CA, Marsha Young of Surprise, AZ and Patricia McDougal of Tucson, AZ; his grandchildren, Stacey Santos, Travis Young and Trevor Young; 5 great-grandchildren and step-children Sindi Chasse, Vicki Jones, Craig Bessent, Scott Bessent and Andre Coscarat all of California, 3 three brothers, Joyce, Donald and Robert McDougal and a sister Betty Stevens Beets. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael McDougal. Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Owens Mortuary Holbrook 409 N. 1st Ave. Holbrook. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Holbrook Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
