Guy Massey Jr. was born on January 6, 1941 to Guy Massey, Sr., and Alberta Burnette Massey in Cedar Creek Arizona. He entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2009 at the Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix Arizona. Guy attended Theodore Roosevelt School and Show Low High School. He earned an Associate of Applied Science from Northland Pioneer College. In his early years, he worked for the Southwest Forest Industries at the saw mills in Maverick and McNary. Later he worked with the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Branch of Forestry as a Chief Fire Dispatcher where he retired after 30 years. He was a District IV Tribal Councilmember, and served on the Whiteriver School Board for fourteen years. His relatives remember him as a generous man, giving of his time and resources, ready to lend a hand. His children remember him as a loving and caring father, giving of himself and always there. His grandchildren remember the times they spent with him, fishing, cooking out and driving in the woods while he told them stories of his child hood. His great-grandchildren will know him through those stories and through the memories his children have. The Massey, Burnette, Malone, Ethelbah, Cosay, and Paxson families would like to extend their appreciation and their welcome. Guy is survived by his children - Rowena Massey of Mesa, AZ, Aaron (Virginia) Massey, Ruth Key and Darwin Massey, seven grandsons - Abbron, Tyron, Fergueson, Eric, Joshua, Lyle and Jay, one grand-daughter-Alberta, five great-grandchildren, and one traditional god-daughter-Sheridee Susan. His body will be brought back to his daughter-Ruth Key's residence - North Rainbow City on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 10:00 AM for a one-night wake. Home service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 10:00 AM, Pastor Timothy Hinton Officiating. Interment will be at the Mourning Dove Cemetery in Cedar Creek, AZ.
