Clarene Morris Mash

Clarene Morris Mash, age 82, passed away July 21, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. Clarene was born in Snowflake, Arizona on June 26, 1927, the sixth of seven children, to the late William Ammon and Jane (Kartchner) Morris. She grew up in Snowflake, graduating from Snowflake High School in 1945. From there she worked as a waitress at Camelback Inn in Phoenix during the winter months and at Grand Teton Lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming during the summer months. She also graduated from Cosmetology School and worked in Holbrook. While working in Holbrook, Clarene met Carl Mash and they were married on May 22, 1954. Carl was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission and they lived several places in Utah and New Mexico. The family moved to Snowflake in 1962, when the Paper Mill opened, and Carl worked there until his death in December of 1982. Clarene retired after 29 years from Reidhead Sand and Rock in 1992. "Granny" was the heart of our family. We will miss her loving ways, kind heart, beautiful smile and sweet voice. She will forever be in our hearts. Clarene is survived by her daughters: Candi (Allen) Free of Snowflake, Arizona, Cyndi (Terry) Freeman of Taylor, Arizona, Lana Patchett of Roseburg, Oregon; her grandchildren: Miranda (Carey) Davis of Snowflake, Marcus Hunt (Oscar Lopez) of Phoenix, Carla Clarene Free of Laveen, Arizona, Michael Free of Laveen, Jesse Patchett of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren: Kyndra (Sean) Atkinson, Brandon (Cristin) Davis, Andrea Davis, Kalynn Davis of Chandler, Arizona; 4 great-great-grandchildren: Kylie, Kelsey, Brysen and Payton. She is also survived by MANY nieces and nephews and dear friends who loved her. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Annella Hall, Coralee Morris; and her brothers: Lamell, Gary, Eldon and Chalmer Morris. The public visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 24, 2009 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Heritage Chapel, 84 E. 19th South in Snowflake, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Snowflake Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 175 W. 9th Street in Snowflake, Arizona with additional visitation 1 hour prior. Clarene will be laid to rest along side her husband, Carl, at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake. Memorial contributions in Clarene's name to: Hospice of the Valley Coronado House, 340 E. Coronado Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85004-1524 have been suggested by her family.
