Our beloved Mother, Daughter and sister, Dagfridur Sveiney "Sveina" Masdottir, age 40, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 18, 2009 in Show Low, Arizona. She was born on April 17, 1969 in Reykjavik, Iceland to Mar Thorvaldsson & Kristin Sveinsdottir. Sveina's step-father was a member of the United States Air Force and in 1973 they came from Iceland to the United States where they moved various times due to his station demands. Sveina always excelled in school and graduated from Santa Rita High School in Tucson. She was an avid animal lover, and was always giving to the less fortunate. She would help with the Love Kitchen and would donate Turkeys for the holidays often. Sveina loved the mountains, trees and all the beautiful scenery. Sveina had a very big heart and was loved by everyone who knew her. Sveina is survived by her 3 children, Mark A. Gerrish, Jordin N. Asberry and Alexus K. Carlson; mother & step-father, Kristin & Thomas Strickland; brother, Rocky Masson; 2 half-sisters; 1 half-brother; 2 step-sisters and 3 step-brothers; and her step-father, Paul Bevins; numerous aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by, James Honey; her paternal grandfather, T. H. Markusson; paternal grandmother, R. Hansdottir; maternal grandfather, S. Thormodsson; maternal grandmother, D. Petursdottier. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday - January 4, 2009 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - 320 N. 9th Street, Show Low, Arizona. In lieu of flowers an account will be set up for Sveina's animals at Wells Fargo.
