James Jim' Lopez, age 45, of Snowflake, passed away December 29, 2006. He was born April 9, 1961 in Ontario, Oregon to Alejandro and Elva Lopez. Jim married Paula Bateman on June 9, 1984 in Weiser, Idaho and they were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple in August of 1988. Jim was an exceptionally loving, generous and compassionate husband and father. He loved coaching baseball, softball, basketball, little league, and refereeing and umpiring games. It was his passion. Between refereeing, scoring or umpiring, the family was always together. Jim loved his family, friends and fellow team members; he will be missed by all. Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Paula; children, Tyler, Stephanie and Courtney; his parents Alejandro and Elva Lopez; two sisters, Jeanette Shockey and Kami (Mark) Schmitt; father and mother-in-law, Ron and Shella Bateman; sister and brother-in-laws, Brenda (Tim) Kuchar, Ronda and Lonnie Lopez, Cinda (Chris) Farrer, Ronny Bateman, Justin (Nicole) Bateman and numerous nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held Saturday January 6th at 11:00A.M. at the Snowflake Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation from 7-9:00 P.M. Friday January 5th at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake and one hour prior to services at the church. There will also be a memorial service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Weiser, Idaho on Saturday, January 13th at 11:00 A.M. A benefit dinner and auction will be held at Snowflake High School, Saturday the 6th starting at 5:00 P.M. Proceeds will go to the Paula Lopez family. A memorial fund has been established at Stockmen's Bank and Wells Fargo Bank in the name of Paula Lopez. Paula and the children would like to give special thanks for all the prayers, kindness, donations and food in their behalf.
