Thomas William "Tom" Kolesar, of Snowflake, passed away surrounded by his loving family February 17, 2010. He was 72. Tom was born September 14, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late William and Ruth (Magnuson) Kolesar. Tom grew up in Minnesota and was the 1955 Minnesota State Track 100 Yard Dash Champion. He later went on to graduate from Roosevelt High School in 1956. That same year he married the love of his life, Janice L. Olson and they began their family. Tom held many job positions that include, Real Estate Broker in Florence, Oregon, Coconino County Enforcement Officer from 1976-1977, a Registered General and Painting Contractor and most recently was employed with Corder Community Services. He also had the honor of receiving the International Salesman of the Year for the O'Brien Corporation. Tom was very active in the outdoors. He was a National Firearms dealer and an NRA Instructor. He loved hunting, gunsmithing, fishing, camping and horseback riding. He was an excellent shot with not only a gun but a bow as well. He was inducted into the Minnesota Archer's Hall of Fame. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice of Snowflake; sons, Richard (Candy), Christian, Lance Kolesar and Brian Spears; a daughter, Tammy (Kevin) Johnson; grandchildren, Todd, Curtis, Amie, Sara, Dustin, Cody, Joshua, Jacob, Ashleigh, Alana, Alzirah and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Madison, Landon, Haley, Lainey, Brandon, Aushlee and Travis as well as sisters, Gloria and Janet. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lana; and 1/2 sister Jean Ann. A memorial service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Our Lady of The Snow Catholic Church in Snowflake.
