Janice Turley Johnson, 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Snowflake on Friday, July 27, 2007, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born May 30, 1937, in Woodruff, AZ to Floyd and Olive Kemp Turley. Janice attended elementary school in Woodruff and high school in Holbrook, where she graduated as salutatorian of her class. In 1959 she married Dee Johnson in the Mesa Arizona Temple . They recently celebrated their 48th anniversary. After their marriage, both Janice and Dee attended and graduated from Arizona State University. They have spent most of their married life in Snowflake, where they raised five daughters and one son. Janice was a life-long and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership roles, including Stake and Ward Relief Society President. She will be remembered most for her life of selfless service and for her love of and dedication to her family and friends. She was always ready to offer a helping hand, a warm smile or a home-cooked meal and was loved by all who knew her. Janice is survived by her husband, Dee; her daughters, Dayna (Michael) Wells of Stevenson Ranch, CA, Melanie (Mark) Larson of Scottsdale, Vonda (Paul) Wangemann of Lindon, UT, Kimberley (Cory) Pence of Pleasant Grove, UT, Nikki (Leslie) Brewer of Taylor and her son, Cory (Rikki) of Snowflake; twenty grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by four sisters, Anita Hallsted, Wanda Kargas, Lucille Layton and Christine Smith and one brother, Milton Turley. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 31st at 11:00 A.M. at the Snowflake Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with visitations to be held at Owens Mortuary from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday July 30th and one hour prior to services at the church.
