Alice Eva Nordstrom Hupp

January 29, 1926 — July 24, 2009

Alice Eva Nordstrom Hupp died, peacefully, at her home in Concho, Arizona on Friday afternoon, July 24, 2009, with her family at her side, following a lengthy illness. She was 83 years old. Alice was born on January 29, 1926 in Torch Lake, Michigan to the late John Emil and Eva Elizabeth (Korkko) Hendrickson. Following her high school graduation, she was given her parents' blessing to marry her high school sweetheart, Douglas Allen Nordstrom. They were married on May 6, 1944 in Garden City, Michigan. Immediately following their marriage, the newlyweds moved to Arizona, where they have since resided. Alice was a devoted homemaker to her family and spent her entire life serving their different needs and she loved every momemt with them. Douglas died in 1998, after nearly 54 years of marriage together. Later, on October 28, 2000, she married Elva Hupp in Tucson and, most recently, they celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary together. Throughout her long life, Alice enjoyed working with her hands and was quite gifted with several handicraft skills. She especially enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, embroidering, tatting and dabbled quite a bit with ceramics. Many of her creations, including afghans for each of her children and grandchildren, are treasures decorating their own homes. She loved to make things for her large family and many friends. Alice lived several years in Tucson, Arizona where she attended church at Love Divine. As her health declined, she moved to Concho six years ago to be near her daughter, Susan, who was able to care for her special needs. While living in Concho, she joined Faith Fellowship Church in Concho Valley, where she remained an active member as long as her health permited her to. She truly will be missed by her entire family as well as countless others who lovingly called her "friend". Alice's family wishes to express a special "thank-you" to Georgiana Francis, Chris Mains, and Jana Thomas from Hospice Compassus, who so lovingly gave extreme and excellent care to their mother since March of this year. Care that made Alice's last few months comfortable and peaceful. Alice is survived by: her husband, Elva Hupp of Tucson, Arizona; 3 children: Richard Nordstrom, Sr. (Theresa) of Tucson, Arizona, Doreen A. Campbell (Ralph) of McLeansboro, Illinois, Susan Webby (William) of Concho, Arizona; step-son, Brad Hupp (LaDonna) of Tucson, Arizona; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Along with her first husband, Douglas, she was preceded in death by 2 sons: Bruce Nordstrom in 1980 and Keith Nordstrom in 1995. At this time private family services will be held, however her family would welcome anyone who would like to send a condolence or sign the guest book on this website. Thanks for caring so much for this sweet gem of a lady.
