Maxine Hancock, age 83, passed away February 18, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Winslow. She was born February 4, 1925, in Snowflake, AZ to the late Charles Franklin and Jane (Freeman) Baldwin. She attended grade school in Heber and later attended Snowflake High School. Maxine was married to Percy Elwood Hancock on November 27, 1941, in Snowflake by her grandfather, Judge James Freeman. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, serving in various callings. Maxine was also active in community affairs and served on the Taylor Town Council. She was an excellent homemaker and devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. This loving and gracious lady will be missed by many. Maxine is survived by one son, Eddie Hancock (Marie) of Taylor; 3 daughters, Janice Rees (Roger) of Lehi, Utah, Joyce Owens (Mark) of Houston, TX and Susie Romero (Ray) of Winslow, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Percy Hancock on Dec. 28, 2002. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Chuck, Leonard, Russell and Gary Baldwin and one sister, Irene Rutledge. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday Feb. 23rd at the Taylor Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday Feb. 22nd at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery. The family have suggested contributions in her name be made to Northland Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002. Owens Mortuary of Snowflake handled arrangements.
