Garth Michael Halter, age 41, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away April 1, 2007 in Clinton, Utah. Mr. Halter, a Data Storage Administrator for Safeway, was born on August 2, 1965 in Tucson. He grew up and attended school in Show Low, graduating from Show Low High School in 1983. Following high school he attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff where he studied Computer Science, graduating with an Associates of Arts degree. Following college he worked for Pima County, Hercules Corporation, Smith's Grocery Stores, Electronic Data Systems, Airborne Data Systems, and finally, Safeway. In 1985 he married Katherine Freeman and together they had two children. Following a divorce, he married Oxana Gangan in 2004. In 2003 he was diagnosed with brain cancer and bravely battled his ailment until his passing. He enjoyed gunsmithing, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and shooting his guns. He is survived by his wife, Oxana Halter of Bountiful, Utah; daughter, April Halter of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Christopher Halter of Charlotte, NC; his mother, Margaret J. Halter of Show Low; brothers, Eric Halter of Clinton, UT; Ferron Halter of Show Low; Orrin Halter of Show Low; sisters, Amanda Rains of Cave Creek and Cari Lyman of Bountiful, Utah. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all of the Safeway employees from Salt Lake, Phoenix and Walnut Creek, CA; Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake, as well as, Julia Baten. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Show Low Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Show Low Cemetery.
