Cristina Marie Guzman, 30, entered into her eternal life on November 13, 2006 at her home in Show Low, AZ. She was born in Spokane, WA on March 11, 1976. She is the loving daughter of Helen and John Guzman of Hobbs, NM, formerly of Albuquerque. She is survived by her parents; three sisters, Laura Cavazos of San Antonio, TX, Helene Reiff of Las Cruces, NM, and Paula Garcia of Albuquerque; four brothers, John Guzman, Jr. of Hobbs, NM, Timothy Guzman of Mt. Holly, NC, Darrell Guzman of Albuquerque, and Brian Guzman of Hobbs, NM; maternal grandmother, Verena McMahan and paternal grandmother, Jennie Chavez Guzman, both of Albuquerque; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins from all over the country. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John W. McMahan and her paternal grandfather, Manuel F. Guzman, both of Albuquerque. Cristina received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the College of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM and her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from New Mexico State University. She was in the process of completing her Doctorate in Psychology from Walden University. Cristina was a licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Professional Mental Health Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist. She was employed as a school counselor for the Concho School District in Concho, AZ. Cristina amazingly touched the lives of many children, adolescents, women and families with her caring, tender and bold spirit which continues to remain in our minds and in our hearts. An avid runner, lover of people and animals, she was passionate in her professional as well as personal life. A Rosary will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque on Wednesday, November 22, 2006, 4:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 24, 2006, 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions may be made to the CRISTINA GUZMAN BILINGUAL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND, at 326 W. Rojo Drive, Hobbs, NM 88240 for others to have the opportunity to achieve an educational degree in the field of counseling.
