Eunice P. Gorman, life-long resident of Holbrook and proud member of the Navajo Nation, departed this life on October 17, 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Gorman was born August 8, 1938 in Keams Canyon, AZ to John B. & Nancy B. (Bahe) Phillips. She received her education at the Keams Canyon Boarding School and later attended Central High School at Muskogee, OK and upon graduation she returned to Holbrook. Mrs. Gorman worked as a waitress at The Highway House until starting her career as a cook for the Holbrook Bureau of Indian Affairs dormitory. She retired from the dormitory after 31 years of service. Most recently, she volunteered her time serving meals at the Bread of Life Mission along with other members of St. George's Episcopal Church. She also enjoyed participating in Tai Chi lessons offered at her church. Additionally, Eunice enjoyed attending pow-wows in celebration of her Native heritage. She is survived by 2 sons, Byron Gary Gorman of Phoenix and Harold Dean Martinez of Holbrook; siblings; Edward Phillips, Darlene Davis, Percy Lee, Iwannah Thorne, Anderson Phillips & Vincent Phillips; in addition to many nieces, nephews and beloved grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Jeddito Cemetery, Jeddito, Arizona. Memorial contributions can be made In Memory of Eunice P.
