Carolyn Helen Gonzales of Holbrook, passed away July 30, 2009 in Flagstaff, Arizona. Carolyn was born September 4, 1949 in San Bernardino, CA to Alfejo and Mabel (Jones) Montano. She attended the St. Joseph Catholic School in Winslow, Arizona and on May 21, 1978 she married Ed Gonzales. Carolyn dedicated her life to helping others. She was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous where she enjoyed 21 years of recovery. She was a member of the home group area service committee for the Navapache area for 12 years and attended 2 world conferences as a representative for the state of Arizona. She was a past President of the Church Council for Peace Lutheran Church in Holbrook. Carolyn was nominated as Holbrook "Woman of The Year" in 2008. She also worked as a volunteer for the Bread of Life Mission Homeless shelter. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and foster parent she will be missed by all. Carolyn is survived by husband; Ed Gonzales of Holbrook, AZ; 3 sons, Joe Montoya of Anaheim, CA, Chris Gonzales of Holbrook, AZ, Michael Montoya of Winslow, AZ; 3 daughters; Stacy Montoya of Avondale, AZ, Tracy Montoya of Holbrook, AZ, Kimberly Montoya of Avondale, AZ; 19 grandchildren; Tiffany Montoya, Katie Montoya, David Moser, Daniel Bailon, Steffen Bailon, John Gonzales, Anthony Petranovich, Samantha Montoya, Riannon Montoya, Matthew Blaskovic, Nick Montoya, Summer Montoya, Adrian Montoya, Angel Ruiz, Damian Herrera, Deztiny Herrera, Mekai Roquemore, Mykailah Montoya, Divaiyne Felix, 3 great-grandchildren; Alisyana Mattox, Aleaya Mattox, Sunshine Ryan; 2 brothers, Robert Montano of San Francisco, CA, Steve (Betty) Montano of Cottonwood, AZ; 3 sisters, Gwen (Jim) Valdavia of Escondido, CA, Toni Montano of Winslow, AZ and Teri Conwell of Henderson, NV. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Yolanda, and nephew, David Tyler. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona, Holbrook, AZ immediately following a Memorial service will be held in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Family Center directly across the street from the Church.
