Jeanette Clarine Frost Gillespie died Friday, December 5, 2008 in Gilbert, Arizona following a lengthy illness at the age of 88. Jean, as she was known, was born on September 11, 1920 in Snowflake, Arizona to the late James Harrison and Editha (Smith) Frost. On June 1, 1937, Jean married the love of her life, Verl Gillespie in Lakeside, Arizona. 10 years later, on June 6, 1947, their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He preceded her in death in 1997. Jean was an active member of The Church throughout her long life and served in various capacities within it. She was proud of the fact that she was a native of her beloved White Mountains and actually made Lakeside, Arizona her home for many, many years. She worked 35 plus years for the Lakeside Election Precinct and was well-liked by those that voted there. A devoted homemaker to her family, this loving wife, mother and grandmother found her life's greatest joys within the walls of her own home. She always enjoyed serving the needs of those that lived there and of those that loved her the most, her family. Jean is survived by 8 of her 9 children: Clairece Gillespie of White Mountain Lakes, AZ, Jim Gillespie (Geneva) of Lakeside, AZ, David Gillespie (Dixie) of Shumway, AZ, Allen Gillespie (Sherry) of Camp Verde, AZ, Royce Gillespie (Debbie) of Kanab, UT, Evette Pinkerton (Louis) of Mesa, AZ, Crushawn Keith (Kenny) of Lakeside, AZ, Nylene Rainey (Kevin) of Gilbert, AZ; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition the her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mikel Rae Gillespie; 2 grandsons: Wayland Gillespie, Braiden Ford Rainey; 5 brothers: Jess Frost, Albert "Monk" Frost, Aut Frost, Mack Frost, Tom Frost; and her sister, Coral Webb. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, December 12, 2008 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Show Low Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low. The funeral will begin at 12 Noon on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Pinetop Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1520 Church Lane in Lakeside, where she was a member of the Rainbow Lake Ward. Additional visitation will be there from 10:15 A.M. and continue until 11:45 A.M., just prior to the funeral service beginning. Interment will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 60 years. Contributions to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Norther Ave., #A-100, Phoenix, Arizona 85021 have been suggested by her family.
