Norman Dale Brugger, 62, passed on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at his Pinetop, Arizona home from complications of diabetes. Norm was a New Year's Day baby born on January 1, 1944 in Norfolk, Nebraska to the late Dale Edward and Lena Marie (Walde) Brugger. Norm was proud to be an American and honorably served his country in The United States Army and spent a tour in Vietnam as a cartographer-topographer. He was a graduate of the Engineering School at The University of California at Chico, becoming a licensed engineer and land surveyor, who was registered in six different states. Norm had workd for the Department of Defense, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Arizona Department of Transportation, the Phelps Dodge Corporation, and several other private enterprises. Most recently he was self employed at Southwest Engineering in Pinetop, where he had worked since 1994. Norm is survived by his very good friends, Marla Randall and her husband, the Honorable Judge David Widmaier of Pinetop and their children. Graveside services and military honors will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 13, 2009 at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, Arizona.
