Conrad Baran, age 63, passed away peacefully February 16, 2008, in Lakeside, Arizona. He was born November 25, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Eugene and Ruth (Henn) Baran. Conrad loved to sing and in doing so, was able to sing his way across Europe and Asia. This led him to achieve one of his greatest ambitions, climbing the Great Wall of China. At the age of 10, Conrad was a member of the Tucson Boys Chorus and was also a member of the NAU Masters Chorale from 1991-2002. After Conrad finished Law School in 1968 at the age of 23, he joined the FBI. He was a special agent for 8 years, and was then retired on an injury-based disability. After that retirement, he practiced law, primarily as a criminal defense attorney until his death. He was most recently a trial attorney with the Navajo County Public Defender's office. He was English-Spanish Bi-lingual. Conrad was one of Arizona's first death penalty certified defense practitioners. One of his proudest moments came from being named a member of the Disciplinary Commission for the Arizona Supreme Court. He served as Chairman of that Commission for the last part of his life. His wife, Linda Houle of Overgaard, AZ; one son, Scott Baran of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren, Jesse Robert Baran, Sean Joseph Baran and Sadie Ann Benford as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and his beloved pets, survive Conrad. Conrad's parents; a brother, Norval Eugene Baran and an aunt, Alice Baran Hatch, preceded him in death. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parrish Center, 212 E. Arizona, Holbrook, Arizona
