Melva Rogers Ballard, age 83, passed away June 20, 2007 at her home in Snowflake. She was born December 25, 1923 in Snowflake, where she grew up and attended school. Following school she married her high school sweetheart, C. Leslie Ballard on June 12, 1942 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They made their home in Snowflake. Melva was a homemaker when her children were growing up. When her children got older, she began working as an assistant librarian at Snowflake Jr. High where she worked until retiring in 1986. In 1989 she and her husband served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Alabama Birmingham Mission. She loved making scrapbooks and was an avid journal writer. Melva is survived by her husband, C. Leslie Ballard; 2 sons, Kerry L. Ballard of Snowflake and Steven D. Ballard of W. Jordan, Utah; 2 daughters, Sherilyn Barney of Chandler and Wendie Tysor of Spokane, WA; 2 brothers, Keith Rogers of Tempe and Terryl Rogers of Gilbert; 2 sisters, Gail McIntyre of Snowflake and Carol Jean Shults of Mesa; 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday June 23rd at the Snowflake Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in the Snowflake Cemetery.
