Carole Lenore Austin, 67, of Lakeside, passed away June 1, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Austin, a retired pediatric nurse was born on April 19, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio. She grew up in Youngstown until moving to Mesa in 1956 where she graduated, with honors from Mesa High School in 1958. Following school she married David James Austin and attended Arizona State University where she studied nursing. She received her nursing degree in 1970 & began working at Maricopa Medical Center. She joined the Indian Health Service in 1980 and moved her family to Alaska. Carole returned to Arizona in 1986 and worked at the Indian Health Services Hospital in Whiteriver, where she worked until her retirement in 1996. Following retirement she served in many church callings including Temple Matron, Genealogy Specialist, Music Director and Instructor in the Young Women's Program. She is survived by her sons, Wallace Austin of Georgetown, IN and Jesse Charles Austin of Lakeside; 5 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. at the Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with a visitation one-hour prior.
