Roy Kleiser Abel

Roy Kleiser Abel, of Lakeside, Arizona, died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside surrounded by many members of his family. He was 92. Roy was born on November 25, 1915 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late George Horace and Emma Evelyn (Gallaher) Abel. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Signal Corps Officer and served his country during WWII and the Korean War. He moved to Arizona from Georgia in June of 1954, some 54 years ago. Roy is survived by: his wife, Dorothy (Dickinson) Abel of Lakeside, Arizona; 3 daughters: Dorothy Ellen Rock (William) of Allen, Texas, Mary Joyce Cariaganis (George) of Norfolk, Virginia, Nancy Elizabeth Majecki of Justin, Texas; 6 sons: David Roy Abel (Carol) of Snowflake, Arizona, Joseph Eugene Abel (Fran) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Thomas Martin Abel (Lynn) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Paul Marshall Abel of Scottsdale, Arizona, John Raymond Abel (Barbara) of Haslet, Texas, Robert Leland Abel of Sierra Vista, Arizona; 1 brother, James Abel of Lake Charles, Lousiana; 1 sister, Evie Mae Lee of Farmerville, Louisiana; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, Trudy Evelyn Abel in 1945; a son, Gerald Anthony Abel in 2003, Gerald's wife, Frances Irene Abel in 2000; 5 brothers: Leland Abel, John Abel, Hollis Abel, Robert Abel and Weslely Abel. A Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 1, 2008 at Solterra at White Mountains, 5408 W. White Mountain Boulevard in Lakeside. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon, Monday, September 8, 2008 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Sierra Vista. Inurnment will follow at the Fort Huachuca National Cemetery in Sierra Vista where military honors, that he so rightly deserves, will be rendered.
