Mary Isabel Stotera, 96 of Lakeside, Arizona passed away September 6, 2007 in Lakeside. Mary was born January 22, 1911 in Marshalltown, Iowa to the late Emory and Mary (Shilliam) Miller. She was educated in the Marshalltown public schools, Grinnell College and Columbia University. She taught high school English and History for 39 years in Iowa, Michigan, California and Arizona. She married Richard Stotera in 1949, retired from the Tucson Unified School District in 1973 and spent her remaining years in Mexico, the White Mountains and Winslow. Reading, walking, gardening, painting and writing were her favorite activities. Mary was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church and was active in the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, in Show Low and the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winslow. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stotera; parents, Emory and Isabel (Shilliam) Miller; sister, Jeanne Porter; brother, Phillip Miller. She is survived by her nieces, Sheila Porter, of Grove, Ok, Mary Jo Fisher, Anne Porter and Patricia Poehlman all of Oklahoma City and Marsha Durossette of Tulsa, Ok. as well as a very special friend, Sharon Romance of Lakeside, AZ. A requiem mass will be held at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 5147 Show Low Lake Road, Show Low, AZ on Saturday, September 15 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the columbarium of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior.
